Openinkstand Art & Calligraphy

These beautiful bird flourishes was what got me into calligraphy and penmanship.

I remember being about 12 years old walking in an art bookshop bored out of my mind and nothing impressed me. My mother called to me to leave and I hurried away, but not till a book with some beautiful swirls on its cover caught my eye. I picked it up and hurriedly flipped through it, marveling at these absolutely gorgeous birds and wondering how they were made. At the time I thought it was some funny computer generated images, but at the same time the art looks pretty old. I put it back and hurried away, but those images burned into my mind.
