It’s been awhile since I have cataloged my oblique penholders. In another post I talked about my vintage obliques, so in this I will post about my modern penholders.. my precious lovelies!
These have lasted me for years through almost daily use, so you can see they are pretty worn and well loved. You can see where the tail broke off one of them, but that’s okay cos I actually like it better as a stub! Another one had the foot whittled off a little as I didn’t like it catching ink all the time, and all of them need a little TLC in the spa. I like his holders because they are set very well and the flange has a particular way of being able to accept many kinds of nibs. I like them because they are very light and use anything from my Nikko G to a Leonardt Principal with them.
Here are my Unique Oblique pens, some are gifts and some are prototypes from Brian (the fourth one is one of his very first pens). I don’t know why but I tend to use larger nibs with these pens like the Brause Rose and the Nikko G.
Here are my other penholders that I use from time to time. From top, Salvador’s metal holder, and his smaller version, a Chris Held holder, Bill Lilly holder, Rodger Mayeda, Chris Yoke and finally, the amazing Hourglass holder. As you can see, each has their own personalities and different looks, and the flanges are all set in different ways. I use each with different nibs and they all enjoy a place in my pen box.
I think I need a bigger pen box!
